Some of the Valley’s best chefs will be tasked with creating incredible dishes based on specific wine and beer pairings.
The fourth annual Epicuriad will take place Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Musical Instrument Museum, hosted by the Beer for Brains Foundation, bringing foodies, wine and craft-beer lovers together to raise money for medical research.
Louis Dolgoff created the Beer for Brains Foundation to bring awareness to and fund research for brain cancer. His wife, Laurie, passed away from the aggressive illness in 2009. The pair shared a love for craft beer, as Dolgoff was a sales manager for Dogfish Head Brewery for many years.
Guests will get to try each chef’s creations and vote on who they thought made the best pairings with the specified wine and beer. The party will also feature a dessert buffet, live music and raffle.
Among the competitors are Beau MacMillan from Elements at the Sanctuary, Justin Beckett of Beckett’s Table and Southern Rail, Jared Porter from Clever Koi and Kristen Bell of the Warehouse at Minder Binder. The VIP chef face-off will pit Chris Knouse of Litchfield’s at the Wigwam against Gregory Wiener from Top of the Rock Restaurant in the Buttes Marriott Resort.
The beer lineup includes brews from Four Peaks Brewing Co., Odell Brewing Co., Stone Brewing Co., Goose Island Beer Co. and Deschutes Brewery. Wines also will be available.
Proceeds benefit Barrow Neurological Institute’s Brain Tumor Research Center in Phoenix.
