The American Homebrewers Association is hosting a rally today at New Holland Brewing Company to connect local beer enthusiasts.
Those who RSVP can tour the production facility in the campus on Commerce Court starting at 1 p.m., New Holland Owner and “Beervangelist” Fred Bueltman spoke with WOOD Radio’s “Justin Barclay Show” about the program. Members of the AHA are welcome to sign up, as well as independent brewers interested in joining. “Homebrewers can bring their favorite brew to the Rally. Our production guys will be there to give tours of our production facility- both our brewhouse and distillery.” Hop farmers and local maltsters will also be there. “A lot of people that have information about agriculture to share with the homebrewers.”
At 2:30, they’ll move on to the brewpub to sample New Holland beers including the special releases of Collaboration Beer and White Hatter, while enjoying live music.
The AHA’s Director Garry Glass told WOOD radio they’ve been happy with growing numbers in membership, ahead of their conference this June at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. “From what we’ve been seeing, there’s no slowing down our membership in the American Homebrewer’s Assocation is grown by 20 percent on average since 2005,” Glass said.
Glass also said they expected a good turnout for the conference later this year. “We’re expecting over 3,000 people at the conference this year. And just a few years ago we broke 1,000. And previous to that its been hundreds.”
