The manager of a pub in Ashtead has rewarded her ‘employee of the month’ by naming a beer in her honour.
Beverley Stedman, general manager of Brewery Inn, which is owned and operated by Stonegate Pub Company, was so impressed with the hard work and commitment of a member of her team Charlotte Williams that she contacted Somerset based brewer Cottage Brewing Company and asked if they could create a beer in Charlotte’s name.
Mark Dearman of Cottage Brewing Company was more than happy to oblige creating a special Halloween ale ‘Charlotte’s Web’. “It’s such a great way to reward staff members and we jumped at the chance when Beverley approached us.”
Williams commented: “I was overwhelmed when Beverley told showed the pump clip and told me she had arranged it for me. My friends are all seriously impressed! The beer is delicious too with a hint of blackcurrant and fudge flavours and is proving a hit with our customers.”
Congratulating Williams, Stedman added: “I run an employee of the month scheme and always like to give the winner a prize, but this is perhaps more unique than most! I’m just glad Charlottes name is Charlotte as it works so well with the Halloween theme.”
This year Williams is in charge of Halloween events at the pub and has planned several days of parties including a children’s fancy dress party complete with face painting, apple bobbing and a pumpkin hunt on Thursday 31st October between 2pm and 6pm.
On Friday she has organised a vampire party with prizes for the best fancy dress, vampy-themed cocktails and food all hosted by Ashtead’s answer to the Addams family. To complete the Halloween extravaganza, Saturday is set to be ‘Fright Night’.
