Beer afficionados head to Santa Fe for breweries and festivals

Already recognized as one of America’s Best Beer Towns by Travel + Leisure, Santa Fe, New Mexico continues to position itself at the top of the ranks.

Two Santa Fe breweries, Second Street Brewery and Blue Corn Brewery, were recognized at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) as some of the best commercial breweries in the United States

. Additionally, six other New Mexico breweries were also winners. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the largest commercial beer competition in the world and a symbol of brewing excellence.

Back at home, locals are preparing for Winterbrew, a festival of craft beers and comfort food at the Santa Fe Farmers Market. Taking place January 24, from 4pm to 9pm this annual event brings together over a dozen breweries and local chefs. Limited to just 800 patrons, Winterbrew features samples of winter beers and small plates of soul warming comfort food from some of our favorite local chefs. Tickets are $20 and include entry, a commemorative pint glass and $5 in tokens to spend at any beer or food vendor. Small plates range from $1 to $5. For more information, call 505-660-2951.
