Brewery wins Gold
ATHENS, Oct 14, 2013 (Menafn – Athens Daily Review – McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) –SEVEN POINTS — Cedar Creek Brewery claimed a gold medal at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition.
Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the U.S. The top three winners in the competition’s 84 beer-style categories were announced Oct. 12 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colo.
Cedar Creek Brewery from Seven Points was recognized in the Belgian-Style Abbey Ale beer-style category for its Belgian Style Dubbel. The aroma is complex with a rich-malty sweetness upfront that blends into a caramel / Belgian candi-sugar sweetness. There are also hints of dark fruits (raisins, plums and a hint of cherries).
The appearance is dark amber to copper and has a reddish hue to it. Flavor is similar to aroma, but with more complexity.
Cedar Creek Brewery, located in Seven Points, specializes in session beers, and has created a fun and relaxing place to enjoy a pint of great American brews.
“I couldn’t more excited about our accomplishments. A small brewery in East Texas is making heads turn across America,” said Jim Elliott, owner at Cedar Creek Brewery.
The local brewery is located on State Highway 334 in Seven Points, and gives tours each Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The 2013 GABF competition winners were selected by an international panel of 201 expert judges from the record number of 4,809 entries received from 745 U.S. breweries.
“The Great American Beer Festival brings together the most stellar brewers from around the country,” said Chris Swersey, competition director. “Taking home a medal at this premier beer competition is truly a symbol of brewing excellence.”
