How best to water the 19th hole: with craft beer, or course.
PGA National Resort & Spa is hosting a weekend of craft beer festivities, highlighted by Saturday’s Craft Beer Bash, where more than 120 different varieties of beers and hard ciders will be available at an indoor, air-conditioned event.
Leading into the beer festival is a special beer-paired dinner Friday night. PGA National’s Executive Chef Sean McKee has created a five-course gourmet menu to pair with New Belgium Brewery’s beers.
The tap list for the festival includes brews from Palm Beach County’s seven craft breweries plus state and national breweries such as Avery, Ballast Point, Boulevard Brewing, Ommegang and Oskar Blues.
The Craft Beer Bash also will host a home-brewers contest where the chosen “King of All Home Brewers” will receive a trophy, a one-night stay at PGA National, dinner, and round of golf.
And for those who want to make a weekend of it, the resort is offering a getaway package for $149, that includes an overnight stay in a luxury suite and two general admission tickets to the Craft Beer Bash.
Tickets to the beer festival cost $35, and $50 for VIP passes which include a souvenir T-shirt, a tasting mug and early admission. Prices are $10 more at the door. Tickets can be purchased at https://pgacraftbeerbash.eventbrite.com or by calling 855-896-4762. Tickets to the beer pairing can be purchased at https://pgacraftbeerdinner.eventbrite.com.
PGA National has been an unlikely craft beer haven.
In February during the Honda Classic, three PGA golfers debuted GolfBeer Brewing Co., their venture into brewing craft beer at the nearby Brew Hub co-op in Lake Worth.
