KegWorks to unveil newly renovated homebrew demonstration area in company’s retail store, the only one of its kind in Western New York
In-store demonstration area designed to provide workshops to consumers on how to make beer at home
BUFFALO, NEW YORK – KegWorks will unveil its state-of-the-art demonstration area, a newly renovated home brewing kitchen within its 4,000 square foot retail store on Military Road. With the new addition, the store will now offer a “Homebrew Workshop” in which KegWorks employees will provide customers classes and demonstrations ranging from beginner to expert levels in the art of home beer making. The opening of the demonstration area coincides with National Homebrew Day on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
As part of the Homebrew Workshop, KegWorks will offer a Home Brewing 101 class about the basics of brewing using standard recipe kits and equipment as well as more advanced classes that will include sessions on all-grain brews and cask ale. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning, group discussion and beer tastings.
The demonstration area features a state-of-the-art Blichmann Brew Tower, a standard stove-top for kitchen-style brewing and a brand new line of homebrew ingredients.
According to KegWorks officials, there were an estimated 1.2 million homebrewers in the U.S. in 2013 and nearly all homebrewers shop in two local homebrew stores eight or nine times per year. KegWorks added the home brewing area to its store to accommodate increased demand for home brewing services and products. Additionally, KegWorks plans to use local ingredients and source local hops as soon as they become available in the region.
“It’s a great time to be a part of the beer scene in Western New York, and we are thrilled to expand our store in this capacity to provide customers with live home brewing workshops,” said David Rivers, president of KegWorks. “This is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase the many facets of brewing right here in our store, and we hope our customers will find the classes and demonstrations both fun and informative.”
The store’s Home Brewing 101 workshop will begin on Thursday, June 5, 2014. The class will be held on Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoons from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The introductory registration rate is $10 per person and anyone age 21 or older can register. Each workshop participant will receive a $10 gift card and pint glass upon completion. To register, please call the KegWorks store at (716) 929-7570 or visit the store.
