Michigan was ranked in the Top 5 among U.S. states with the best beer, a survey published Thursday showed.
Online site Thrillist.com ranked all 50 states in terms of the quality of their beer, saying in its survey “it’s a great time to be drinking beer in America.”
Grand Rapids, home to Founders Brewing Co. and more than a dozen other craft breweries, has been named Beer City U.S.A.
For Thrillist, the mitten state came in fourth overall.
“Mittens were meant for holding cold brews, and Michigan happens to host some of the best damned breweries in the country,” the pollsters said.
From Bellaire to Traverse City, the survey founds a good craft brew establishment across the board. Beer, in some aspects, has even helped the Motor City re-invent itself, the survey found.
The No. 1 beer state in the country was Oregon.
