BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Tuesday, Senator Charles Schumer will be in town to make a case for expanding the beer brewing business in Buffalo. He’ll stop by the Pearl Street Grill and Brewery later Tuesday morning to push for a bill that would slash the excise tax on small breweries by 50 percent.
Right now brewers pay a $7 excise tax for the first 60,000 barrels they make a year. The Small Brew Act would cut that tax in half. Schumer says breweries could pour all the money they save right back into their business.
