I was doing a mash for a 10 gallon batch and; oh I don’t know, I just lost the thread somewhere and and I put the entire mash volume into the mash tun….I figured I’d screwed this up pretty good but hey, JRAHAHB right? So I put my first running in by brew kettle (about 50%), and the remainder I put into my (empty) HLT. I brought it up to strike temp and then I used it for sparge water. My mash efficiency stayed at my normal 72%, so my question is,Why not do this all the time? Saves on heating water…. What is technically wrong with this, if anything????
