Lauderdale office.This is not a job about configuring packet filters or applying vendor patches. You will be helping shape how hundreds of engineers think about writing secure software. You will be leading security reviews and vulnerability analysis of web-scale systems, with particular attention to Akamai’s security products.You will be exposed to new technologies and ideas and be expected to learn them quickly – and then be able to teach them to others. You will find your ideas challenged and have to defend them with sound logic and evidence – and have the pleasure of working with others held to the same standards.Be part of a team of dedicated security experts who work to make the Internet a safer place for everyone.About the TeamThe Adversarial Resilience team works to improve the resilience of Akamai systems under pressure from adaptive adversaries, developing new attacks and working with engineering teams to build defenses. We work closely with the Platform Safety team to improve the safety and resilience of Akamai system and the Internet as a whole.Akamai InfoSec brings together diverse perspectives. We combine backgrounds in engineering, mathematics, computer science, and biochemistry with interest in topics ranging from home-brewing beer to sailing to robotics in order to solve the complex problems of Internet security. You can too.Responsibilities:* Lead through influence to improve software quality in widely distributed teams* Collaborate with Security Architects, Security Researchers, and Software Engineers to improve the resilience of Akamai systems under pressure from adversaries.* Conduct formal security reviews of proposed software designs, controls, and test plans, applying System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) and STPA-derived methods.* Perform incident response and analysis* Analyze and articulate risks to Internet infrastructure.* Advise engineers and engineering managers in the development of safer and more defensible software.* Read code to find flaws and propose fixes.* Propose new ways to find and/or prevent flaws in Internet-connected software and systems.Qualifications:Basic Qualifications* Overall Experience: Minimum of 5 years.* 5+ years of experience in developing, debugging, and testing software.* 1+ years of experience applying of application attacks and defenses.* 2 years of experience using UNIX/Linux command shells including script development.* 1+ years of experience constructing HTTP, TCP, and/or UDP traffic manually.* 2 years of experience with exposure to security technologies, processes, and concepts such as symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, TLS, Authentication and Authorization, Static Code Analysis.* 1+ years of experience developing software using a secure software development lifecycle.* 1+ years of experience in at least one of: Haskell, OCaml, F#, ML, Scala, Clojure, Common Lisp, Scheme, Opa, or Erlang.Desired Qualifications* Coursework in computer science, mathematics, or engineering.* Basic understanding of the entire OSI stack, with in-depth knowledge at of least one layer.* Deep understanding of HTTP and DNS.* Experience developing software in C, C++, or Go.* Excellent technical aptitude and a desire to learn constantly.* Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing to both technical and business audiences* Successful completion of security challenges or CTFs such as those on, OWASP’s Web Goat, or Google’s Gruyere.* History of responsible vulnerability disclosure.* Some knowledge of Systems-Theoretic Accident Modeling and Processes (STAMP).Other Information* Is relocation available for this position: No* Is US Citizenship required: No* Is a Security Clearance Required: NoIf yes, applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation & must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified informationAbout Akamai:About AkamaiAkamai® is the leading cloud platform for helping enterprises provide secure, high-performing user experiences on any device, anywhere.
