PALM DESERT – After several years of enjoying his hobby of home-brewing, Scott Stokes began dreaming of starting his own microbrewery right here in the desert. And his dream became a reality in 2013 when he founded La Quinta Brewing Co.
After teaming up with Derek Lloyd and Ryan Pearson, the new microbrewery very quickly made its entrance to the Coachella Valley with several unique and flavorful beers. With names such as One Eleven Pale Ale, Windy Point Wheat, Poolside Blonde, and Indian Canyon IPA, you know this is a homegrown local business.
They also feature a Brewer’s Reserve Series. These beers are bigger and bolder than the company’s regular lineup of brews. However, due to the small batches and limited availability of the series, they are only available in the brewery’s tap room.
The microbrews are sold in kegs and just recently became available in cans. You can sample the beers on tap in more than 65 restaurants in the Coachella Valley, or at the brewery’s tap room, where you can also learn about the microbrewing process and what flavors go into each of their beers, while sampling the merchandise with your friends.
“Whether you enjoy a crisp wheat beer or prefer an IPA with aggressive hops, La Quinta Brewing offers an array of unique brews to satisfy any palate,” Stokes said.
About the team
Born and raised in Palm Springs, Stokes has a genuine knowledge of the people and culture of the Coachella Valley. It was this knowledge, combined with his passion for the craft brewing industry, that led him to create La Quinta Brewing Co. Previously, in the real estate industry for several years, he was also a homebuilder and land developer here in the desert for seven years. Stokes leads the LQBC team as president.
Lloyd developed his passion for craft beer in the Pacific Northwest. Most recently, he was vice president at Young’s Market Co. overseeing wine, spirits and beer sales for the Coachella Valley. Lloyd joined the LQBC team as the director of sales and partner.
Pearson, an inspired home-brewer and craft beer enthusiast for more than a decade, graduated from Siebel Institute & Doemens Academy with an International Diploma in Brewing Technology. He recently joined the company as brewmaster and partner.
