This is a very easy and quick brew to make and yields a light bodied beer with a very delicate hop bite and aroma. In this video, we sanitize the bottling bucket with Iodophor, measure out the priming sugar (5oz or 3/4 cup), make the priming solution, sanitize the beer bottles, rack the beer into the bottling bucket with an autosiphon, prime the batch, bottle the beer, and cap our brew!

How to Brew: All Grain Kolsch With Decoction

Brewchick Shiloh Branigan brings you a Kölsch brewday demo, all-grain style, complete with double decoction temperature control. Kölsch bier is a pale, brilliantly clear, easy drinking, low hopped, any-time beer from the Cologne region of Germany.

10 gallon recipe:
86% pilsner malt
8.3% vienna malt
5.7% victory malt
2X decoction mash
90 minute boil
1 oz hersbrucker & 1 oz mittelfruh @60
1 oz mittelfruh & 1 oz saaz @30
2 whirlfloc tablets @ 10 minutes
Wyeast 1010 American wheat ale yeast
ferment cool (55-58 degrees Fahrenheit) 2 weeks
dycetal rest 48 hours at 62 degrees Fahrenheit
after d-rest, transfer to 2ndary, lower temp 3 deg. Per day until 34F.
lager 30 – 60 days prior to kegging
carbonate keg, store additional 2 – 4 weeks prior to serving
