Beer City USA’s Underground Scene – Home Brewing in Asheville, NC

Asheville, North Carolina is a gorgeous mountain town that runs on beer. Visitors can visit any number of commercial breweries, but what they don't get to see is the vibrant community of home brewing that feeds this town's hunger for hops.

We spent some time with a few home brewers to check out this hobby (read: obsession) and see if it's possible to cross over from a few kegs in your garage to the big time. Maybe you'll see these beers in your favorite restaurant one day.

The Art of Building a Brewery – 1

Designing and Building your home brewery is as close to art work as it gets.

It incorporates aspects of wood working, plumbing, electrical, crafting, painting, even sewing if doing BIAB (Brew in a Bag). Putting it all together is a true expression of one’s craftsmanship.
For me, it’s time to build a new brewery after 8 years of brewing. 10 or 15 Gallon capability, all Electric, 240v, Capable of doing both BIAB and traditional three Vessel!
This Brewery will have the capability of doing large 10 or 15 gallon BIAB (e-biab) batches with the utilization of a small hoist/crane that is part of the brew bench for fast, simple, excellent brews. It will also be large enough to setup a 3 vessel HERMS or RIMS system to have complete control mash temperatures to achieve consistent results.
Home Brewing is a great hobby – well suited for the artistic/creative handy man.

Sanitize/Clean Home Brew Beer Bottles

Today's homebrew video is how to sanitize and clean your home brew beer bottles. Sanitizing is crucial to your home brewing success. Also check out our site for more home brewing tips http://robbcorbett.com/sanitize-clean-home-brew-beer-bottles/

NOTE: Although I cleaned and sanitized the hell out of the tub before using it, I no longer use a tub for sanitizing my bottles. as it is a bathtub after all… lol… I now use the kitchen sink or a laundry style wash basin/tub!

Until my next homebrew video…
